Hello.

I cannot connect to an SQ6M with my serial cable but I am able to connect with the network setup.
After checking the software configuration many times and changed USB adaptors,
It may have a faulty wire in my serial comms lead p/n 60E-500909 BN 134433*05.

Would it be possible to post the pinout ?

Thanks !

Hi KPA,

So from what I understand you can connect via Caltool using an Ethernet connection, but it doesn't connect using the AS to serial cable and a Serial to USB adapter connected to your PC?

Do you know if serial is definitely broken out in your car loom connector?

Also in Caltool are you using the File > Configure Devices interface to connect via serial? Caltool does not automatically connect via serial by default, it uses Ethernet as it is much faster unless you force it to use serial.

Many thanks,

Rob.

Hello Rob, thanks for the answer.

I can indeed connect with Ethernet. The software setup  and wiring is fine, I have built and tested a bench loom.

I could think the fault is actually in the serial cable or / connector itself as mentioned in the OP, but i cant really check...

Are there specifications for the port speed or Fifo buffers etc ?
I am aware some computers prefer 192K speeds for comms.

Thanks !

KPA

Hi, did you find your issue Kako. Check your setting Communications setup/Serial Datastream, Default Comms mode..   it must be set to PC otherwise the Serial will not connect.. Normally this is set to some dash or other comms setting as a default.   This is a bit of a trap, older Ecu's used to communicate if you connected with the laptop and then powered up the ecu, but I think SQ series does not do this.. Easy way to tell if it is a Caltool setup issue or a wiring/setting issue is to connect to the ecu with EOT using serial cable..  IF that works your wiring is OK..

 Cheers...
