As briefly described, I have an old SQ6 with a working map but no way to modify without the Deskpro profiles? Can get connection via ethernet...
Is there a way to rescue what's on there and update to use Caltool? Or is it a case of starting again?

You can use caltool if the code version it’s on is new enough, if not you’ll need to upgrade firmware and translate the map to the new firmware level. 

If you can connect with DescPro, let us know the firmware level currently and we can advise

Deskpro will connect but without the origional profile will not allow mw to get any further, Suggestion is to write a saved MAP which I think will wipe the current and basically mean starting again... I've not tried connecting using CALTOOL yet, I will do, need a different laptop... How do i check current Firmware version?

DeskPro reports SQ6v10-77... no compatable profile?

Can a profile be provided? or an updated F/W that can still use the existing dataset/MAP?

you need the calibration map first from the ECU to upgrade it.   Profile/metafile is on the way.  This version is not a common release.
