Hi,
assuming windows 10.. do some searches here.....  set associations windows 10.. (or 8 or 7)    The issue i have had is not actually from Win 10 but Cloud Adobe... Get rid of it if you have it and go back to old hard drive installed Adobe..  The cloud version tries to take over everything slightly associated with Adobe.  You will spend hours fixing it, boot the laptop a few times and suddenly it will re associate again.. There are supposed to be ways to stop it doing this but never worked for me. Windows or Adobe does an update and it starts all over again..  Adobe never took over my datasets, but cds is a recognized Adobe extension. hope it hasn't scrambled them. Usually in this case it just changes the logo of the file in explorer, if you can't open them you may have issues...
Hope that is of help and it works out OK...

cheers

Hi Elan,

As per littleozfella's comments, this sounds to me that you PC currently has the .cds file extension name defaulted to open in the Adobe software.

I presume you can still open the files if you first open Caltool and then going open dataset and browsing to them that way?

Many thanks and best regards,

Rob

Hi to all this is my first post but I thought I would just piggy back on this question as it's sort of related. I'm not in the UK as such there is no local support for Cosworth. So maybe I made a big mistake right there but I bought my systems some time ago when I was of the opinion that the Motec M800 ECU was not up to the same standard as I thought it was cumbersome. My systems have not been fitted to the cars as yet due to unforeseen unrelated delays☹️ I have a SQ6M and a MQ12, I also have various Cosworth sensors such a laser ride height, IMU-G, air pressure etc etc, so I am quite committed at this stage, these are road car projects btw. While I can't start the projects till next year I thought I would look at the software. My computer is an Apple Mac running Parallels.

I'm sure you know what comes next, I can't open any of the files with any of the various extensions? Such as cds, cws etc etc. If someone could advise what software I need for the easy access to the files? Also has the Cosworth system a "self learning" feature where you set a target lamba number and then it seeks that target number out like say a modern OBR ECU? Is there any video tutorials that I can buy to learn how to use the system?

TIA

Greg

Hi Greg,
IT would probably have been better to start a new post, anyway... also where are you, there is most probably somebody close by that can help..  What version of Caltool do you have and do you have a current up to date Personality??  That is a good starting point..

 cheers

Hi I'm in Australia and don't have an up to date personality. I will have to check on the Caltool version. I was just wanting to look at the software I have on the computer like for example the Caltool. I want to learn how the maps work as such, how the sensors are intergrated etc. Thanks.

Hi 982s,

The latest personality file can be found in the post at the bottom of this thread.

For this reason alone I use all my Cosworth tools on a Mac with a virtual machine. Far more reliable and professional tool when compared with Windows as your main base OS.
